The Lord's My Shepherd, Scottish Psalter, music by John Campbell

This song, worded from Ps 23, is an inspiring picture of what happens when the Lord is our Shepherd.

In the first verse of the song (Ps 23.1-2 ) God puts us in anframework of peace, away from the frantic pace and fear of this life:

"1 The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. 2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. "

In the 2nd 3rd, and 4th verses of the song (Ps 23.3-5) we see us yeilding to God as He is restoring, ridding us of our imperfections, healing us:

"3 He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. 4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. 5 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. "

In the 5th verse (Ps 23.6) We find the promise and hope that as His sheep, we will live with God, not against Him, in His house of true blessing and happiness:

"6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever. "

What a shepherd, to take us from our helpless, insecure, false pretenses, and shattered existence, and remakes us into His children!
